Technology in the ELT classroom

Hi, everyone!
How many times have we tried to make our classes interesting and meaningful for our students? I guess a thousand times, but the problem we face every time we try is either the lack of knowledge about how to operate the different units of technology we have (overhead projector, computer, projector, DVD, etc.) or how to integrate this technology in our classes. It may sound scary but it is not! To get familiar with the equipment the school has is the first step, and if you simply cannot, just ask for help. The second step is to rehearse before taking any of these devices to the classroom –I guess you wouldn’t like to make a mockery of your class.
On the other hand, we may list a big number of advantages our class may have using this kind of technology, such as: raising our students’ interest in the class; mixing all different kinds of learners’ styles; improving and developing their multiple intelligences, etc.
So, if we talk about all the stuff we can make in the Internet our list of advantages will keep on growing, don’t you think? By the way, when was the last time you have your students do something on Internet besides a research?
